Habib Akond, an Associate Chartered Accountant accredited by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB) since 2019. He also holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from Jagannath University, Dhaka, demonstrating strong academic credentials with notable results.
Currently, he serves as the Vice President of Taxation and Finance Control at HSBC Bangladesh. In this role, he manages significant aspects of the bank's taxation strategy and financial control systems, ensuring compliance and optimizing financial operations for tax efficiency. His responsibilities include overseeing direct and indirect tax submissions, guiding business units on tax matters, and managing corporate tax provisions and deferred taxes.
Prior to this, he was an Assistant Manager in Financial Reporting & Taxation at Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC (CBC), where his responsibilities included preparing financial statements according to IFRS/IAS guidelines, managing Bangladesh Bank reporting, and liaising with auditors. His excellent performance in CBC was recognized with an award for being one of the rising stars in 2021.
Earlier, he worked as a Manager in Audit and Taxation at ACNABIN Chartered Accountants, where he gained substantial experience in audit and assurance, financial management, and taxation, including special training on auditing financial institutions.
His professional expertise is complemented by his role as a trainer in IFRS, ISA, and various compliance topics at ACNABIN. He has also engaged in several workshops and training programs, enhancing his leadership and ethical governance capabilities. His background, combined with his proactive approach to financial governance and compliance, positions him well to contribute effectively as an advisor on our website.
